 Top Tips for Smoking with Olive Wood Chips

  • Soak or Dry? For a slow, smouldering smoke, soak chips in water for 20–30 mins before use. For quick bursts of smoke, use dry chips.

  • Use a Smoker Box or Foil Pouch: Fill with chips, poke holes for airflow, and place over heat.

  • Start with Small Amounts: Olive wood has a strong aroma – a handful of chips can go a long way.

Our wood chips can be used on coal / charcoal barbecues for instant smoking flavour - simply add them to the briquettes, preferably around the edge of the barbecue. Or you can use a smoker box when using smoker chips. Place the chips inside the box and place onto the barbecue/grill for 20 minutes prior to cooking. We sell smoker boxes for your convenience.

Three litres of our premium quality, hard-wood chips will weigh approximately 900g (31.7 oz) depending on the variety. This will fill our 9" Smoker Box approximately 3 times (depending on the amount you use), giving a smoking time of around 4.5 hours.
